Businesses and organizations provide support as well as experiences to the teachers and students. From discounts for the school community to teaching about tools in the field, our experts help build a learning environment focussed on preparing students for future careers. The Museum of Science provides professional development to teachers through the UTOTES project where teachers use the outdoors to provides students with unique learning opportunities. In addition to expanding the classroom environment to outdoors, the museum provides resources, field trip experiences, in addition to virtual learning Laboratories.

The Hilburn PTA has supported the students and staff tremendously through a variety methods. From raising funds for supplies to providing support for teachers as well as providing volunteers the PTA plays a huge role in the school community. The PTA also helps in reaching out to other organizations and businesses for school support.

Engineers from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers North Carolina Chapter provide a unique opportunity for students to not only learn about engineering skills but also about the global communities working together in industry. From participating in expo events and STEM projects to consulting on the development of Hilburn's Robotics, these engineers have helped students strengthen skills. Recently they came in to provide a presentation as well as interactive activity with our 5th Grade Students.

The Tobin Family Chiropractic has been established nearby and provide Hilburn with resources of knowledge of students to explore through school visits and outreach for teachers to utilize. When interacting with students, they focus on such things as the spine & nervous system, mindset & the power of thinking, nutrition, as well as exercise.

The local NC State Employees' Credit Union continuously participates in numerous events at Hilburn including our STEAM Expos. Employees have provided support for students by being there as an audience as well as a source of information from the industry.

NC State has provided a wealth of resources for Hilburn Academy by helping develop STEM activities, train teachers, and help develop the new CTE and robotics program at the school. Both faculty and students participate in events at the school, come in and present as well as conduct activities with students, and also allow students to come onto campus to experience a different learning environment.

Tony Rice with NASA's Solar System Ambassadors Program has attended expos to provide feedback to students on their projects. The Solar System Ambassadors Program also visits schools to expand students' knowledge on space exploration.

By participating in our STEAM Expo and working with students, WakeMed of Brier Creek has shown students how their work and projects relate to the medical industry. Information on how the different areas of science, technology, engineering, and math relate and can be utilized by students.

NC State's EcoCAR2 team came to Hilburn to present to the 6th Grade. The engineering and communications students discussed alternative fuel vehicles and gave insight into how industries are working with universities in researching vehicles of the close future. In addition, they also covered the importance of skills for college and the workplace so students could picture what may be required of them in the future.

The NC Science Festival has greatly helped Hilburn Academy by providing science kit resources that were used at the 2013 Spring STEAM Expo. These were fun and interactive science experiments that families had the opportunity to enjoy. The NC Science Festival also connected Hilburn with a guest speaker from NC State School of Veterinary Medicine. The speaker is a scientist who discussed with the 6th grade about cells and DNA.

Representatives from Wells Fargo have come into our classrooms and have taken time to teach students about the importance of budgeting, maintaining a checking account, in addition to making better decisions on their spending of money. They have created lessons and informative but student-focussed web resources that develop informed individuals.

Volunteers from Providence have supported the school in a number of ways focussed on improving the building and grounds. Recently a team came a helped establish outdoor learning environments including an animal tracking setup, bird blind, and other improvements to school grounds to better student learning
